Please note that the Alexandria Christmas Parade will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2021. We will begin to assemble under I-49 on Murray Street downtown Alexandria (you will be given detailed lineup instructions when you receive your lineup number one week before the parade) at 10:00 a.m. All entries must be in their location no later than 1:00 p.m. A copy of the parade route and your entry number will be emailed to you no later than December 6, 2021. Alexandria Mardi Gras Association reserves the right to refuse entry to any applicant. Entry deadline is December 5, 2021.

Please indicate on your entry form whether your organization desires to be judged. All entries will be judged during the parade as they pass the judges’ stand. The judges’ stand will be located in front of City Hall. Any entry that stops along the parade route to perform will be disqualified from judging. This decision was made in order not to have long gaps in the parade. Therefore, allowing the parade to flow in a uniformed and timely manner down the parade route.

There is a $100.00 entry fee. This Year you have the option of paying via PayPal (payments@alexmardigras.net) or check or money order payable to the Alexandria Mardi Gras Association. This application and entry fee must be received by December 5, 2021 for you to be eligible to participate in the parade.

ALEXANDRIA MARDI GRAS ASSOCIATION ALEXANDRIA CHRISTMAS PARADE INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!

  1. All groups involving vehicles (cars, floats, trucks, etc) should be at the Staging Area (you will be given detailed lineup instructions when you receive your Line Up Number) no later than 12:00 noon on the parade day.
  2. Please have 2 spotters for each car and 4 spotters for each float to ensure the safety of your organization. A spotter is someone that will be responsible for keeping parade watchers at a safe distance from your entry. No driver only vehicles will be allowed.
  3. All other entries should be checked in and present in the assembly area no later than 12:30 p.m. parade day. All entries will be assigned a number that corresponds to an area in the parking lot.
  4. There will be volunteers to help you with locating your spot in the line up and answer any questions that you may have.
  5. All entries that desire to perform for the judges will be judged during the parade as they pass the judge’s stand in front of City Hall. Any organization that stops along the parade route to perform will be disqualified from judging. This decision was made in order not to have long gaps in the parade. Therefore, allowing the parade to flow in a uniform and timely manner down the parade route. First and Second Places will be recognized.
  6. You are allowed to throw candy from your entry; you will not be allowed to have a Santa Claus on your entry; and each entry must be decorated with a Christmas theme.

The parade is Sunday at 2:00 p.m. We will begin the formal lineup sharply at 12:00 p.m. Only vehicles in the parade will be allowed in the roped off area.

The parade will start at Intersection of 10th Street and Murray and end at 3rd and Lee Street. When you arrive at St. James you will be directed back to the staging area, this will be the only place participants will be allowed to disband and meet their rides.

The Alexandria Mardi Gras Association and all other parties to the parade will not be responsible for lost items and accidents in the assembly area and the disassembly area, or along the parade route. By participating in the parade, you agree to these conditions. Please use all caution while moving about in these areas.

Bus traffic may discharge their passengers anywhere in the Murray Street Area except in the roped off area.
